Twisting and flipping 23 meters through the air and hitting the water after three seconds is a hard way to make a living, but its a great way to attract media attention.
Nine time world champion Colombian Orlando Duque travelled to the West Coast of Ireland yesterday to take part in training and promote Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, the fourth stop of which took place on Inis mor, Aran Islands on August 4th.
Fly fishermen watched on as Orlando leapt from a helicopter at heights of over 23 metres in the bay of Ashford Castle. As is typical on the Corrib, the weather changed every few minutes but Orlando was undettered:“ I am so happy to be back in Ireland. It is one of my favourite spots to dive and I am really excited that the fourth stop will be on the Aran Islands. We had sun, rain, all seasons today, but for me it’s good to get accostumted to the Irish weather in advance of the event in August“.
